Essential English is an option for students to complete their literacy requirement as an alternative to English. This subject should not be chosen without consultation with a students Year 10 English Teacher and the English Coordinator as it will only lead to the Stage 2 Essential English course and not Stage 2 English.

This subject is designed for:

  • Students who are seeking to meet the SACE literacy requirements but are struggling with mainstream English
  • An English language development focus for students who are new arrivals in Australia
  • Students who are planning to pursue a career in a range of trades or vocational pathways. There is an emphasis on practical communication, comprehension, analysis and text creation.

 ASSESSMENT

Assessment will be according to the SACE subject outline.
